Chester Field |
Chester is the proprietor of Coarsegold's general store, where Whittlin' Willy spends most of his remaining days. Though he never complains, his business seems a little slow lately. This could be traced to the fact that he has stopped selling almost all his goods. He is divorced, which was almost unheard of in those days.
Sal is the local barber, dentist, and boot black. He is married and has a son named Roscoe. He frequently complains about slow business, though he seems to always have a customer. He is notoriously forgetful, and it sometimes takes him years to finish a job.

Sam Andreas |
Sam is the local bartender, which no old western town can be without. He seems nice enough, but it seems he never wants to help out when it counts.
Name is a play on San Andreas, California.
Sheriff Shift is an odd sort of sheriff. When the town's about to be crushed by a stampede, he doesn't seem to care at all. But when a building violates even the smallest fire code law, he'll shut them down as quick as possible.

Doc "Dizzy" Gillespie |
Doc makes do as both Coarsegold's town doctor and town drunk, and he has the exceptional ability to mix business with pleasure. He'll be writing the prescriptions you fill, but it may not always be wise to take them word-for-word.
Nickname is taken from Dizzy Gillespie, the jazz musician. |
Smithy is the town blacksmith. Just an average, hard-working American joe, you wouldn't think anything could go wrong for him. However, he shuts down and leaves town after getting wind that somebody may be trying to destroy Coarsegold for some unknown reason.
